About the WSA

    Do you:

Think that New Labour has sold out socialist principles?
Oppose the privatization of our public services?
Reject the current government's cuts in NHS provision?
Want to see a decent standard of living for all groups in our society?
Support the rights of women and racial minorities to equal recognition and fair treatment?
Oppose Bush and Blair's so-called 'war on terrorism'?
Support the protection of our natural environment?
Seek an alternative to the self-serving, reactionary politics of the mainstream parties?

So do we. Our aim is to build on these beliefs, and make a difference.

The Welsh Socialist Alliance is a new force in Welsh politics, committed to bringing about a fair and sustainable society. Our ever-growing membership includes a wide spectrum of those on the political Left who are disillusioned by New Labour's agenda. Our members represent a range of views and backgrounds. In common, we seek an anti-capitalist alternative to the worship of the free market shared by the four main political parties in Wales.

This alternative lies in the creation of a society based on principles of equality, social justice, peace and environmental sustainability. A society in which ordinary people have a genuine say in the direction of their own lives. A society in which the key aspects of economic and political life are subject to truly democratic, participatory control. A society based on freedom from want, and freedom for each individual to realise their own potential. Our word for this alternative society is socialism.

The ultimate aim of the WSA is to stand candidates in every seat in Wales in both general elections and elections for the Welsh Assembly. At each election since our formation in 1998, we have taken further steps towards this goal. Our aim now is to continue growing, and to involve more and more like-minded people in the fight for social justice.

We welcome all of those who share our aims, and invite you to join us in the struggle for a fairer society, and a fairer world.
